Getting started and connecting

Install iNoon on your computer, connect an iPhone or iPad, and resolve the most common discovery problems.

What is iNoon?

iNoon is a desktop app for managing iPhone and iPad data from your computer. It can browse device information and data, create and read local backups, export selected records, and perform supported device operations without placing your library in an iNoon cloud.

Can I install iNoon on my iPhone or iPad?

No. iNoon runs on your computer and communicates with an iPhone or iPad that you connect or have previously paired. The Mac version is available now, and the PC version is coming soon.

What do I need to run iNoon?

The current Mac version supports Apple silicon and Intel Macs running macOS 15.6 or later. You also need an iPhone or iPad, a data capable USB cable for the first connection, and enough storage for any backups or exports you create.

Why is my device not showing in iNoon?

Unlock the device, connect it directly to your Mac with a data capable USB cable, tap Trust on the device if asked, and enter the device passcode. Avoid a USB hub while testing. Try another cable and port, then reopen iNoon or restart both devices. If Finder cannot see the device either, resolve that connection problem first.

Why do I need to trust this computer?

Trust is an Apple security step that pairs your device with your Mac. It allows approved local access over USB and, when enabled, WiFi. iNoon does not bypass the device passcode, Trust prompt, pairing, or Apple security controls.

Can iNoon connect over WiFi?

Yes. First pair the device over USB and enable WiFi Connection in the device settings. After that, iNoon can find the device when the Mac and device are reachable on the same local network. USB is usually faster for large backups and transfers.

Why is my paired device not appearing over WiFi?

Confirm that the Mac and device are on the same local network, the device is awake, WiFi Connection is enabled, and iNoon has Local Network permission in macOS settings. A VPN, firewall, guest network, or router isolation can block discovery. Reconnect once by USB, then restart iNoon and the device if needed.

Backups and storage

Choose where backups live, understand encryption, and troubleshoot scheduled or incomplete backups.

Where does iNoon store my backups?

You choose the location for each device. A backup can live on your Mac, an external drive, or a mounted network location. The selected destination must remain connected, mounted, writable, and large enough when a backup runs.

Can I back up to an external drive or network storage?

Yes. Choose a folder on an external drive or a mounted network volume as the backup location. Connect or mount that destination before starting a manual backup or before a scheduled backup is due.

Can I use local backups instead of iCloud Backup?

Yes. iNoon can create backups on storage you control, so you can choose not to rely on iCloud Backup for your device backup. Keep at least one additional copy of important data and make sure your chosen drive or network storage is protected.

Why did my scheduled backup not run?

The Mac must be powered on, awake, and not sleeping. iNoon must be allowed to run, the device must be reachable over USB or WiFi, and the selected backup location must be mounted and writable. Any time, frequency, and battery conditions in the schedule must also be satisfied.

How long should a backup take?

The time depends on how much data is on the device, whether the connection uses USB or WiFi, and the speed of the destination. The first backup is usually the longest. Later backups may finish faster when less data has changed.

Why is my latest data not showing?

A backup contains the data that was present when that backup was made. Create a fresh backup to include newer messages, photos, and records. If you are viewing a connected device, refresh the current data view after confirming that the device is unlocked and reachable.

Why does iNoon need my backup password?

An encrypted iPhone or iPad backup cannot be opened without the password set when backup encryption was enabled. iNoon uses the password locally on your computer to unlock and read that backup. When you choose to save it, iNoon stores it safely in the protected credential storage on your Mac or PC and does not upload it.

What if I forgot my backup password?

iNoon cannot recover or bypass a forgotten backup password. If the password was saved by iNoon, it may be available securely through your Mac Keychain. Without the correct password, the existing encrypted backup cannot be opened.

What is the difference between a backup and an export?

A backup is a structured copy intended to preserve device data and support later browsing or restoration. An export is a portable copy of selected information, such as messages, contacts, photos, notes, or call records, saved in a format intended for normal use outside iNoon.

Browsing data and exporting

Understand what can be viewed, why some records may be unavailable, and how exports differ between data types.

What information can I browse in iNoon?

Depending on the device, backup, and available records, iNoon can present device details, iMessage, WhatsApp, photos, contacts, call history, voicemail, notes, voice memos, calendars, Safari data, music, podcasts, apps, and accessible file system content.

Can I browse a backup when the device is disconnected?

Yes. Once a compatible local backup is available and unlocked when necessary, you can browse the information stored in that backup without keeping the device connected. The content reflects the time that backup was created.

Why is a data type empty or unavailable?

The selected device or backup may not contain that data, the latest backup may be older than expected, or Apple security and service availability may limit access for that device state or system version. Confirm the source, unlock encrypted backups, and create a current backup when appropriate.

Does browsing in iNoon change data on my device?

Browsing and search are read only by default. Changes occur only when you deliberately start an operation such as a backup, restore, export, file transfer, or supported device management action. Review the confirmation shown before a device operation begins.

Which export formats are available?

Export options depend on the data view and your selection. iNoon shows the formats available for the current records, including useful document, text, table, contact, calendar, and media formats where supported.

Privacy and safety

Learn what remains on your computer and when information can leave it.

Does iNoon upload my device data?

No iNoon cloud receives content from your connected device during normal use. iNoon processes and stores that data on your computer or in locations you choose. Information leaves only when you deliberately export or share it, submit a crash report you reviewed, or use an external provider you configured.

Is my backup password sent to iNoon?

No. Backup passwords are used locally to unlock encrypted backups. When you choose to save one, iNoon stores it safely in the protected credential storage on your Mac or PC rather than sending it to an iNoon server.

Does iNoon jailbreak my device or bypass Apple security?

No. iNoon works with Apple pairing, Trust, passcodes, and device services. It does not jailbreak the device or bypass activation, pairing, encryption, or other Apple security controls.

What happens when I use an external AI provider?

AI is completely turned off by default. No content is sent to an AI provider unless you enable and configure one, then choose what to submit. Selected content is sent directly from your Mac to that provider, which has its own privacy, retention, security, and fee policies. You can keep the data local by leaving AI turned off.

What is included in a crash report?

A crash report can contain technical diagnostics needed to understand a failure. iNoon lets you review an optional report before submitting it. Do not include device content or personal information that you do not want to share with support.

Licenses and updates

Use iNoon on the computers and devices you own, understand major version coverage, and recover a lost key.

Is iNoon a subscription?

No. The standard iNoon license is a one time purchase with no subscription and no automatic renewal. Your purchase includes every update within the current major version and the next major version at no extra charge. Every version you receive remains yours to use permanently, and there is no deadline to upgrade while your licensed version continues to work with your computer and devices. Apple may eventually change iOS, device communication, or data formats in ways that require a newer iNoon major version. Later major upgrades remain optional and are available to existing license holders for 50% of the full license price.

How many computers and devices can I use?

Your personal license can be used on as many computers you own and with as many iPhone and iPad devices you own. It is not intended to be shared with other people or used as a business wide license.

Will my license work with the PC version?

Yes. One license covers the Mac version and the PC version when it becomes available. The PC version is still coming soon.

What does a perpetual iNoon license include?

Your purchase includes every update within the current major version and the next major version at no extra charge. Every version you receive remains yours to use permanently. There is no deadline to upgrade, so if your licensed version continues to work with your computer and devices, you can keep using it for as many years as you like. Apple may eventually change iOS, device communication, or data formats in ways that require a newer iNoon major version. You only need to upgrade when you want newer capabilities or compatibility that your licensed version does not provide. Later major upgrades are optional and available to existing license holders for 50% of the full license price. There is no subscription and no automatic renewal.

What happens after my included major upgrade?

Later major versions are optional. Existing license holders can purchase them for 50% of the full license price. You only need a newer major version when you want its features or need compatibility that your licensed version no longer provides.
